Toddler dies from heat exposure in Mesa home
MESA, Ariz. -- A 2-year-old girl has died after police said she was found malnourished and dehydrated in a Mesa home in more than 100 degree temperatures.
Police said Tuesday the girl died at the scene and her 1-year old brother is hospitalized.
According to authorities, Mesa police found the girl after the child's mother called 911 because the child was unconscious.
Authorities said the children's mother may face charges depending on a report from the medical examiner.
The boy will be placed in Child Protective Services once he's released from the hospital.
The mother's name has not been released.
