A professional beer theft ring has been broken up, police said.

Phoenix Police Officer James Holmes said Jeffrey Webb and Keara Quijada have been arrested in connection with at least 40 beer thefts at convenience stores in Phoenix and Tempe.

"Over the last few years, we've seen this in the Valley, where we've had serial beer runners at convenience stores, serial cigarette thieves," he said. "These people think that they can just walk into these business and steal their property and they're never going to get caught and they're never going to have to pay for it."

Holmes said Webb and Quijada allegedly stole numerous 30-packs of beer and would sell them out of their home. When officers served a search warrant at the residence, they found numerous packs of beer.

Both suspects have been charged with several felonies.
