TUCSON, Ariz. — Fire crews rescued two people who were trapped inside a storm drain in Tucson.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that the man and woman, both of whom are in their 30s, entered the storm drain Saturday from the nearby Rillito River, became disoriented and couldn't get out.

Rescuers had to use a saw to cut a metal security bar on a gate blocking the storm drain.

The two were in the drain for about eight hours.

Both were taken to a hospital after they showed signs of heat-related illness.
