PHOENIX -- The crush of foreclosures in the Valley has wrought a Thursday-night Discovery Channel reality-TV show that pits realtors against each other as they try to outbid each other on foreclosure properties. That they haven't seen.

"I personally hate to lose and we're bidding against each other every single day," said one Doug Hopkins, one of the personalities featured on Property Wars, which premiered last week.

Hopkins, of Red Brick Realty in the East Valley and postedproperties.com, said instead of buying storage lockers for hundreds of dollars, the realtors are buying up foreclosures for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

"We're competing against each other to see who has the most money and who can buy the house."

It's not the cable network's bucks they're playing with, it's the realtors' own dollars'

"This is our money and we make or break depending on the house and the buy we got."

Ed and Lou from New York, Steve and Ed from Los Angeles, and John Ray of Phoenix also are featured on the show.

Some of the clips are intense. Screaming matches break out between the realtors. And there's nothing fake about it, according to Hopkins.

"That happens every day. There's some of us that don't like each other. There's some of us that get along and are friendly competitors."

    Realtors can't be trusted......
I can't believe they would give shady realtors their own show, showing just how shady and ruthless these people are. People like this ruined the housing market and are now still capitalizing on it. Sad. People never to trust: Realtors, Used car salesmen, Bankers, Lawyers, Stockbrokers, etc. Basically, your fat, useless, baby-boomers in suits.

    No....
The people that ruined the market were people that couldn't afford their houses after they refinanced them 3-4 times and pulled the equity out to buy their "toys", lavish vacations, new pools, etc. I am happy to see people come in and take some inventory off the market. This will lead to prices regaining ground. Big Truth....quit being a hater. Peace.

Realtors have nothing to do with any bubble or collapse, the market dictated by liberal lending practices. Those wild and aggressive lending programs came from your beloved Bill Clinton in 1996. In 1997 Subprime hit the market big time and morphed into irresponsible lending practices which drove up values, which were then taken advantage of by the CONSUMER.

    Its not the realtors money
"It's not the cable network's bucks they're playing with, it's the realtors' own dollars" Most realtors down at the auction are acting as bidders and charge anywhere from $1500-$5000 for the winning bid. Johnny Ray had a pool of investors money he would use to purchase the homes for the investors. I believe he charged $3000 if he was the highest bid. Not including other services he charged such as pulling comps, title report, eviction, etc etc..
