PHOENIX — About 80 percent of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's contributions to his re-election campaign came from out-of-state donors.

The Arizona Republic reports that the five-term Republican sheriff raised more than $140,000 from Arizona donors and reaped more than $800,000 from out-of- state contributors from Jan. 1 through May 31.

Arpaio's campaign had $3.4 million on hand at the end of that period, while his challengers had much smaller amounts.

More than 2,700 of Arpaio's donors are Arizonans.

About 12,000 of his donors are from outside the state.

California provided Arpaio's largest out-of-state base of support, followed by Texas and Florida.

    Abo / Micho is
Going to have a tough choice this election . Arpaio , the sheriff who enforces current immigration law which she vividly opposes or Penzone , the accused wife beater who ( if republican ) she would blog about until her fingers were blue . I suspect she will shuttle her morals and support the wife beater. After all when it comes to supporting "the race " all else is secondary.
