Phoenix Mayo Clinic among 10 safest hospitals in US

A Phoenix-area hospital has been ranked among the safest in the country by Consumer Reports.
According to Consumer Reports, the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix received a 70 (out of 100) overall, tying the hospital for third-best.
The study focused on six areas: infections, readmissions, communication, CT scanning, complications and mortality.
The study said that despite hospitals trying their best to keep patients safe, mistakes are made from time to time.
Patients can also take steps to protect themselves, including simple things such as asking doctors to wash their hands before touching them and asking if one scan will suffice when two are ordered.
