PHOENIX — Arizona's voter registration base is holding fairly steady with less than a month to go before the deadline to vote in the state's Aug. 28 primary election.

The Secretary of State's Office says the state has 3.1 million registered voters, down about 5,600 from the last report in March.

Nearly all of the electorate is divided roughly into thirds, with 1.1 million Republicans, approximately 950,000 Democrats and just over 1 million independents.

Members of the Libertarian, Green and Americans Elect parties account for about 1 percent of the electorate.

The deadline to register in the primary is July 30.
