Rob's 5 On It: Not-so-famous celebrity ‘conscious uncouplings'

By now, you may have heard Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin are getting a divorce after 10 years of marriage.

They didn't quite call it a divorce in their official announcement. Instead, they branded their breakup as a "conscious uncoupling."

In that spirit, here's a look at five of the more unknown celebrity conscious uncouplings. They all happened before these stars became really famous. I guess fame really can change things, including the name of divorce.

1) Kim Kardashian

Way before there was Ray J. or Reggie Bush or even the fake marriage to basketball player Kris Humphries or the supposed real engagement with Kayne West, everyone's favorite reality star married a guy named Damon Thomas.

Their marriage lasted about three years. Thomas was a music producer who eloped with Kim in 2000 when she was 19. After Thomas filed for divorce, Kardashian met Ray J. She and Ray J. made a sex tape and she became famous. I guess in way, all Kim's fame is due to her first conscious uncoupling. Yay for divorce!

2) Jennifer Lopez

Jenny from the block is most known for her marriage and still not-finalized divorce to singer Marc Anthony. Prior to those nuptial agreements, there were two conscious uncouplings.

Her first marriage was to model Ojani Noa back in 1997. One year later, the couple was headed for a divorce. Their fight still continues to this day. They fight over photos and videos Noa has of Lopez from back when they were a couple. He's looking to make money off them. She doesn't want pictures of her late-'90s hairstyle to get out in public and has sued to stop him from using them. Clearly, there's nothing like an amicable separation.

J-Lo's second marriage was to dancer Chris Judd. They lasted about a year-and-a-half. Now she's dating someone who is 18 years younger than her.

3) George Clooney

Yes, even the famous bachelor was married once. It was before his breakout days on the television show "ER." Clooney and actress Talia Balsam were legally hitched from 1989 and 1993. He later said, "I probably -- definitely -- wasn't someone who should have been married at that point." I guess he could say the same thing now as the Oscar-winning actor dates a different beauty every couple of years.

Balsam has been married to "Mad Men" actor John Slattery since 1998.

4) Angelina Jolie

I first remember Angelina Jolie with actor Billy Bob Thornton. They were married between 2000 and 2003 and famously wore a little bit of each other's blood in around each other's necks. Let's call it was it is: they were weird.

We know that marriage ended and Jolie has been with Brad Pitt since 2005.

But, before all that, Jolie's first conscious uncoupling was with another actor, Johnny Lee Miller. They were co-stars together in the movie "Hackers." Jolie later said, "Divorcing Jonny was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done, but I don't dwell on it. I was so lucky to have met the most amazing man, who I wanted to marry. It comes down to timing. I think he's the greatest husband a girl could ask for. I'll always love him, we were simply too young." Take that, Brad.

5) Bradley Cooper

The star of the "Hangover" series was also married to actress Jennifer Esposito. The marriage only lasted a few months before it became uncoupled in 2007. This, of course, was well before Cooper received any starring roles.

Years later he explained the marriage "was just something that happened." As in, it sounded like a good idea at the time. That doesn't exactly sound like the explanation Paltrow and Martin gave, but does it matter as long as it was conscious?
