Most families have at least one child who is tough to feed. Whether the kid has allergies or is just plain picky, it can sometimes be a challenge to feed them.
But for some children, eating is nearly impossible. About 15,000 Arizona children with pediatric feeding struggles cannot eat normally because they have life-altering problems with chewing, swallowing or eating.
Feeding Matters, a local nonprofit group, works with experts to develop tools, resources and opportunities for children with pediatric feeding struggles. The group also creates a community for parents struggling to feed their children.
The organization was founded by Shannon Goldwater, who gave birth to premature triplets in 2002. After spending a year going hospital to hospital, she learned her children had a complex problem and would need help.
