Were a Cleveland bus driver's actions justified?

After video of Cleveland bus driver Artis Hughes punching 25-year-old Shidea Lane -- who declined to pay her fare and was verbally abusive throughout her ride -- went viral this week, a debate was sparked: should the driver lose his job or was his violent reaction appropriate?
At the moment, RTA has suspended Hughes without pay for indefinite period of time.
